Sanforization – μηχανική διαδικασία τελικής επεξεργασίας υφασμάτων, γνωστή και ως επεξεργασία Sanfor®, η οποία πραγματοποιείται με σκοπό την αύξηση της διαστασιακής σταθερότητας του υφάσματος κατά το πλύσιμο ή την πρόληψη της συρρίκνωσης των υφασμάτων κατά τη διάρκεια του πλυσίματος. Ονομάζεται επίσης διαδικασία τελικής επεξεργασίας κατά της συρρίκνωσης.
Mercerization – διαδικασία κατά την οποία τα υφάσματα (συνήθως βαμβάκι) υποβάλλονται σε επεξεργασία για τη βελτίωση ιδιοτήτων όπως η αντοχή των ινών, η αντοχή στο συρρίκνωμα, η λάμψη και η απαλότητα, καθώς και η απορρόφηση της βαφής.
